Datuk Dr. Mohammad Daud Bakar, is the Founder and Group Chairman of Amanie Group, a global boutique Shariah advisory firm with offices in Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Luxembourg, Cairo, Tunis and Dublin. He is also the Founder and Chairman of Amanie Nexus Sdn Bhd (Kuala Lumpur), Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Councils of Bank Negara Malaysia, the Securities Commission and the Labuan Financial Services Authority, and the Chairman of the Shari’ah Committee of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation.
Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud is the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of International Islamic University Malaysia. Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud also sits on the Board of Sime Darby Property Berhad. Currently, he is also a Shariah Board member of National Bank of Oman (Oman), Noor Islamic Bank (Dubai), Amundi Asset Management (France), Morgan Stanley (Dubai), Bank of London and Middle East (London), BNP Paribas (Bahrain), Bank Al Khair (Bahrain), Dow Jones Islamic Market Index (New York) and SEDCO Capital (Saudi Arabia).
Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud received his first degree in Shariah from the University of Kuwait in 1988 and obtained his Ph. D. from the University of St. Andrews, United Kingdom in 1993. In 2002, he completed his external Bachelor of Jurisprudence at the University of Malaya.
Dato’ Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Cyber Security Malaysia, a strategic agency under the Ministry of Science,Technology and Innovation. He has more than 20 years of ICT working experience in the telecom and IT sector in the Government as well as in the semi-government and private sectors. Through his leadership at Cyber Security Malaysia, Dr Amir managed to contribute to Malaysia’s achievement in attaining number #3 rank in the world, in the 2014 International Telecom Union (ITU) Global Cyber Security Index and becoming the first World Trustmark Alliance Chairman to be reappointed to a second term, was selected to receive an ASEAN Award as the Outstanding Chief Information/Security Officer Award.
He is currently the Executive Director of International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA). Prior to joining ISRA he was an Assistant Professor at the Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM). In the period 2002-2004, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Sharjah, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. At present, he is Member of the Shariah Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia, Member of the Shariah Advisory Committee of Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Member of Yassar Limited (Dubai) Shari’ah Advisory Board, Member of EAB (London) Shari’ah Advisory Board, Chairman of Islamic Advisory Board of HSBC Insurance Singapore. Dr. Akram is also Shari’ah Advisor to ZI Shariah Advisory Malaysia, Member of Shari’ah Board of International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM) Bahrain, Shari’ah Advisor to Dar al-Takaful Dubai, Committee member of AAOIFI Shari’ah Standards, Bahrain and other Boards locally and internationally. He is also Member of the Board of Studies of the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia. Dr. Akram holds a B.A. Honors degree in Islamic Jurisprudence and Legislation from the University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan and a PhD in Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. He has presented many papers related to Islamic Banking and Finance and other Fiqh topics at the national and International level and has conducted many training sessions particularly on Islamic Banking and Finance for different sectors since 1999. He is a registered Shariah Advisor for Islamic Securities with the Securities Commission Malaysia and has acted as Shari’ah advisor in the issuance of several sukuks. Dr. Akram is a prolific author of academic works especially in the areas of Islamic Banking and Finance. He is the recipient of Zaki Badawi Award 2010 for Excellence in Shariah Advisory and Research.
Prof. Dr. Ashraf Md. Hashim is the Chief Executive Officer of ISRA Consultancy. He is also a Senior Researcher at International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) and a Professor at International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF). Dr. Ashraf currently sits on the Shariah Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia (SAC BNM) as Deputy Chairman and the Shariah Advisory Council of Securities Commission Malaysia (SAC SC). He is also a member of Shari’ah Committee for International Islamic Liquidity Management Cooperation (IILM) and the Chairman of the Shariah Committee of Bursa Malaysia (Malaysia Exchange House). He also serves as member of National Fatwa Council of Malaysia. Dr. Ashraf is a registered Shari’ah adviser with Securities Commission Malaysia and advises REIT companies, particularly in Singapore. Recently, he has been appointed as a member of Board of Directors and also the Chairman of Shari’ah Committee for Tabung Haji (Pilgrims Fund Board). He also serves as Deputy Chairman of Shariah Committee for the Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM). He is actively involved in many advisory works related to Islamic finance in Malaysia and abroad, among others the Islamic Bank of Australia (Project) and Noor Takaful Nigeria (Chairman of Advisory Council of Experts). He was the Chairman for Panel of Experts in Muamalat Matters under the Department of Islamic Development, Prime Minister’s Department Malaysia. Dr. Ashraf obtained his PhD (Islamic Law) from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. His Masters in Fiqh and Usul Fiqh from University of Jordan and his BA in Shari’ah from Islamic University in Medina, Saudi Arabia. He is also a holder of Postgraduate Diploma in Shari’ah Law and Practice (DSLP) from International Islamic University Malaysia.
Dr. Zaharuddin has been the Shariah Committee member of EXIM Bank since April 2013, and appointed as Chairman Shariah Committee of EXIM Bank in July 2016, and is also currently a Research Fellow at ISRA.
He holds a PhD in Shariah and Islamic Finance from the University of Wales, United Kingdom, Master in Islamic Law (Hons) from Al-Yarmouk University, Jordan and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Usuluddin from University of Malaya. A prominent Shariah scholar in Islamic Banking and Finance with strong academic research background and hands on experience in Islamic finance operations. He is also sits as Chairman Shariah Committee for BNP Paribas Malaysia Bhd.
He has written numerous books and hundreds of articles on Islamic Jurisprudence and Islamic Banking published in local and international media and Shariah journals. He frequently features on local television and radio articulating on various Shariah issues especially with regard to Islamic commercial transactions. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aishath Muneeza is among the key founders of Islamic finance in Maldives, a small island nation with a hundred percent Muslim population. She has experience in multiple aspects of Islamic finance industry. She is a shariah Advisor, an Islamic Finance Consultant, a researcher, a presenter, a regulator, a speaker, a trainer, an Associate Professor and an attorney who is actively involved in promoting Islamic finance. She is the driving force behind the establishment of Maldives Hajj Corporation, the Tabung Haji of Maldives and she has facilitated the establishment of more than ten financial institutions offering Islamic finance services. She structured the first corporate sukuk offered in Maldives and she also structured the Islamic Treasury Instruments for the government of Maldives. The Islamic Capital Market framework of Maldives has been shaped under her guidance and the legal framework of Islamic Capital Market in Maldives was developed by her. She has published numerous books on Islamic finance, available in all major bookstores across Malaysia and she is the first to publish comprehensive books on Islamic finance in Dhivehi language. She is the co-author of the winning essay of the worldwide Islamic finance essay competition organized in Kuala-Lumpur Islamic Finance forum (KLIFF) of 2010. She had won gold and silver medals in international research exhibitions for research conducted on disciplines related to Islamic banking and finance. Her contribution to Islamic finance industry has been recognised internationally and has been conferred several awards of recognition. She has received the prestigious “Rehendhi Award” highest award for women, conferred by the government of Maldives for her contribution in the development of Islamic finance industry. Currently she is an Associate Professor at INCEIF & the chairwomen of Maldives Centre for Islamic Finance that was set up by the government of Maldives to position the country as the hub of Islamic finance and Halal industry in the South Asia region.
Dr. Danbatta, previously the Director of the Centre of Consultancy and Executive Programmes at INCEIF, has over 25 years combined experience in the private, academia, as well as in the financial services regulation and supervision sectors across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He is a Member of the Accounting and Auditing Board of Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), and has chaired various working groups for the issuance of financial accounting standards for Islamic financial institutions. He has also been involved in the development and drafting of standards, guidelines and frameworks for capital adequacy, accounting, as well as supervision and regulation of Islamic finance for various countries.
Dr. Danbatta holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia, and an MBA in Corporate Finance. He is a Chartered Accountant with the Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA-UK), a Licensed International Financial Analyst (LIFA-UK), and a member of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIFP), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria (CPIN), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), and International Council for Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE). Dr. Danbatta is a known Islamic banking and finance consultant, and has been active in providing Islamic finance training and consultancy to central banks, securities commissions, deposit insurance corporations and Islamic banks. He also has a number of publications on Islamic banking, corporate governance and earnings management.
In addition to these corporate engagements, he also held the positions of Assistant Professor at Sultan Qaboos University Oman, a Research Fellow at the Accounting Research Institute (ARI) of University Technology MARA (UiTM), Malaysia and Academic Fellow at Insaniah University Malaysia. He has worked with the Highland Bank of Nigeria Plc, Peugeot Automobiles and Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria.

Hassan Scott Odierno is a partner at Global Actuarial & Consulting Services (GLOBACS) and also a partner in Actuarial Partners Consulting Sdn. Bhd. His specialties are in life and takaful consulting and is an avid speaker in Takaful conferences globally from Asia to Africa. He is the Appointed Actuary for both takaful operators as well as conventional insurers, extending from Malaysia to Mauritius to Hong Kong. Mr. Masumi Hamahira has more than 19 years working experience in the banking and finance industry at MUFG Bank and was appointed as Advisor for Islamic Finance Department of MUFG Bank (Malaysia) in 2011.
Before coming to Malaysia, Masumi was attached to several key divisions in the Tokyo Head office of MUFG Bank. He was responsible for corporate finance, derivative marketing and structuring as well as global business planning.
Leveraging Masumi’s experience, MUFG Bank (Malaysia) won Islamic Finance News Awards such as The Most Innovative Deal of the Year 2016, Cross-Border Deal of the Year 2014, Wakalah Deal of the Year 2013, and Structured Finance Deal of the Year 2012. Azleena joined the Malaysian arm of the second largest Islamic bank in the world in early October 2017 after a brief stint in Islamic finance consulting, more than a decade with Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM) and close to decade with RHB Group.
During her service with BNM, she was instrumental in several key national and international Islamic finance related initiatives including Malaysia as an International Islamic Financial Centre (MIFC) and Islamic finance initiatives in the Financial Sector Master Plan 2011-2020, spearheading the legal architecture of Islamic Financial Services Act 2013, Islamic finance-related provisions in the Central Bank of Malaysia Act 2009, liberalization of the Malaysian legal profession, operationalisation of International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation and its sukuk issuance programme, establishments of Islamic Finance Tax Neutrality Committee and Islamic Finance Law Harmonisation Committee. At RHB Group, she was involved in most of the merger and acquisition exercises involving the RHB Group beginning with the acquisition of Kwong Yik Bank Berhad and restructuring of the Group to create RHB Bank Berhad. Her last assignment was the creation and licensing of RHB Islamic Bank Berhad.
Apart from her legal qualifications obtained from Manchester Law School and Malaysian Legal Profession Qualifying Board, she also has a Global Executive MBA from London School of Economics and Political Science, New York University Stern Business School and HEC Business School Paris, ranked 1st Executive MBA in the world by Financial Times in 2014, which enabled her to gain valuable insights on technology disruption, digital economy, entrepreneurship, globalisation and sustainability.
